You normally need two items
The complete M3U playlist link from your activation email and a small USB memory stick formatted as FAT32.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Keep These Four Things Ready

Do not start by changing firmware. First confirm the model, download the correct playlist and prepare the USB stick.

1

Your Openbox Model

Look at the label under the receiver. Confirm whether it says V8S, V9, V9S or another model.

2

Your Activation Email

Keep the KING TV email open. You need the complete M3U playlist link supplied for your account.

3

A Computer

Use a Windows PC or Mac to download the playlist, rename the file and copy it to the USB stick.

4

A FAT32 USB Stick

A small empty USB stick is easiest. Formatting removes existing files, so copy anything important away first.

Important for beginners
The file name must match your model exactly. V8S commonly uses WebTV.m3u. V9 and V9S commonly use tvlist.m3u. Do not add .txt after the file name.

Use The Instructions Matching Your Receiver

The two common Openbox methods are shown separately. Stop and check the label under the box when you are unsure.

STEP 1

Download The Playlist From Your Activation Email

Use the complete M3U link supplied for your KING TV account. Do not copy an example address from a tutorial.

1

Open The Email On A Computer

Find the line labelled M3U playlist, playlist URL or download link.

2

Open The Complete Link

Paste the full address into the browser address bar and press Enter. The playlist file should download.

3

Choose Save As

Save the file somewhere easy to find, such as Downloads or the Desktop. Do not open or edit the channel lines.

Never publish or share your playlist link.
The link contains private account details. Send screenshots with the address hidden when asking for public help.
STEP 2

Prepare The USB Stick Carefully

Formatting and file naming cause most Openbox setup problems. Complete each check before inserting the USB into the receiver.

1

Back Up The USB Stick

Copy important files somewhere safe because formatting erases the USB contents.

2

Format It As FAT32

Right-click the USB drive on the computer, choose Format and select FAT32.

3

Rename The Playlist

Use WebTV.m3u for the common V8S method or tvlist.m3u for the common V9 and V9S method.

4

Copy It To The Main USB Folder

Place the file directly on the USB stick. Do not hide it inside another folder.

5

Eject The USB Safely

Use the computer eject option before removing the USB stick.

CHECK THE EXACT FILE NAME
V8S OR V8 SERIES
WebTV.m3u
Capital letters may matter on some firmware.
V9 OR V9S
tvlist.m3u
Do not save it as tvlist.m3u.txt.
Cannot see the .m3u ending?
Windows may hide file extensions. Open File Explorer, select View and enable File name extensions before renaming.
V8S INSTRUCTIONS

Import WebTV.m3u On Openbox V8S

Menu wording can differ slightly by firmware. Look for Multimedia, Network Local Settings, Network App or WebTV.

1

Insert The USB Stick

Switch on the receiver and insert the FAT32 USB containing WebTV.m3u.

2

Open WebTV

Press Menu and open Multimedia, Network Local Settings or Network App, then select WebTV.

3

Read The USB File

Press the yellow button labelled Read By USB. If old channels are shown, use Delete All only when you are sure they are not needed.

4

Wait For Success

Keep the USB connected until the receiver confirms that the playlist has been imported.

No Read By USB option?
Open Tools, Upgrade By USB, choose Misc Files, select WebTV.m3u as Web Stream and use the yellow Upgrade button. Do not select a firmware file.
V9 AND V9S INSTRUCTIONS

Import tvlist.m3u On Openbox V9 Or V9S

The IPTV function may appear as Free IPTV, IPTV or inside Network App depending on the installed firmware.

1

Insert The USB Stick

Use a FAT32 USB with the file named exactly tvlist.m3u in the main folder.

2

Open The IPTV Menu

Open Network App and select Free IPTV, or press the dedicated IPTV button when your remote has one.

3

Load The Playlist

Allow the receiver to read tvlist.m3u. Press OK when a channel list appears.

4

Save And Test

Use the save command shown by the firmware, then open one channel and wait several seconds for playback.

Do not guess another file name.
If tvlist.m3u is not detected, send support the exact model and a photo of the IPTV menu before updating firmware.

Incorrect firmware can remove IPTV functions or stop the receiver from starting. Use only firmware confirmed for the exact model.
OPENBOX SETUP QUESTIONS

Openbox IPTV Setup FAQ

Open a question to view the answer.

What information do I need from the KING TV email?

You need the complete M3U playlist link supplied for your account. Do not use a portal URL or copy an example address.

Which file name should I use?

The common V8S method uses WebTV.m3u. The common V9 and V9S method uses tvlist.m3u. Menu and firmware differences exist, so contact support when the file is not detected.

Why does the receiver not see the USB stick?

Confirm the USB is formatted as FAT32, try a smaller USB stick and insert it directly into the receiver without an adapter or hub.

Why does Windows save the playlist as a text file?

Windows may hide file extensions. Enable File name extensions in File Explorer, then remove the extra .txt ending.

Should I update the Openbox firmware?

Only when the IPTV function is missing and support confirms the correct official firmware for your exact model. Do not install random firmware packages.

Why are some channels not opening?

Restart the box and router, test another channel and confirm the subscription is active. Older receivers can struggle with some modern stream formats.

Can I use IPTV PRO on an Openbox receiver?

Traditional Openbox V8S and V9S receivers do not run normal Android applications. Use the USB playlist method shown in this guide.

Does KING TV renew automatically?

No. KING TV subscriptions are manually renewed. No automatic renewal charge is taken.

STILL NOT WORKING?

Send The Openbox Model, File Name And Menu Photo

Include the exact model from the label under the box, the playlist file name, the USB format and a clear photo of the Network App, WebTV or IPTV screen.
